How to improve your egg quality over 35 with these 3 tips
Our amazing Fertility Expert team member, Lonika, shares her 3 key tips to improving egg quality and getting pregnant over 35…
Trying to enhance your fertility and conceive naturally over the age of 35?
It can be done!
We work with many patients who are well into their 40’s who have healthy, happy babies and conceive naturally or with assisted techniques.
By following these three tips, you’re going to be well on your way to understanding your reproductive health better so you can have an easier time trying to conceive at an advanced maternal age.
Egg quality is important at any age… but it becomes more of a fertility focus as you reach 35 and over.
There’s A LOT of things you can do at home to improve your egg quality. It’s all about what you’re putting into your body – both with food and supplements – that can really help to enhance your fertility.
We need to prioritise good clean foods (meaning bye-bye processed foods) and high quality supplements.
This is important because a healthy egg = a healthy embryo, clean plantation and a full-term pregnancy.
Sometimes if egg quality is not great it can increase the risk of chromosomal issues and cause issues for pregnancy so we want to make sure we’re going into pregnancy with everything as healthy as possible.
If you work with us, we’ll suggest that you work on egg quality for around 3 months leading up to pregnancy to give your body time to adjust, heal and be empowered.
Are you ovulating?
Do you know? And are you tracking your ovulation?
There are many ways you can track your ovulation and therefore understand your cycle better. I often recommend to my patients to use apps to help them track their ovulation and menstrual cycles.
In addition, there are tests and methods you can use to build an even clearer picture of how/when you ovulate. We don’t want to rely on apps alone. I always recommend ovulation predictor kits, hormone tests to monitor your hormone surge to figure out when your peak window is so we can time everything properly, and finally testing your basal body temperature.
Hormones are super important for your fertility… of course!
We really want to make sure your hormones are in balance when you’re trying to conceive. If things aren’t working properly this can affect what your cycle is doing and your ovulation.
This is why I typically recommend checking your hormones with your doctor via testing so you can ensure there are no imbalances at play. We always check hormones with our patients, and it’s something we can also help you with if you’re needing more support in that area.
So to recap…
The three most important things to improve your fertility/ egg quality over 35 are: egg quality health, proper ovulation and balanced hormones.
