Why You Need To Eat Organic to Get Pregnant (And how to do it on a budget!)

Are you re-organizing your diet plan to handle your fertility issues? Do you know that conventional meat and seafood can aggravate your reproductive problems or could be harmful for your baby during pregnancy? Keep reading because today we’ll talk about good quality meats and great quality seafood. Let’s get started!

The question is, why do we actually have to go source out special quality meat or poultry and special quality seafood?  Why can’t we just get regular food from the grocery store?

In many parts of the world, especially here in the US we do have issues with the quality of the conventionally grown foods and the quality of the conventional animal products or seafood that we get.

Think logically, if you were on a farm and getting your own food and taking care of your own cattle and maybe if you were going fishing for seafood, you’d look for things to be done in the most natural state.

  1. Our cattle were not intended to be fed grains and corn. Actually in many ways just like we were, in most instances, intended to be fed those foods as well. They were meant to be out on the pasture, grazing, eating grass, eating what they find, not what we’re f
  2. They also weren’t intended to be held in the present day confined or small spaces just for mass production of meat.
  1. The same is true for seafood. Our seafood is meant to swim all over the place, find the food that it was meant to eat or be eaten by somebody else and then we were meant to go out and fish or hunt, catch those things and then consume them ourselves.

When you look at the way meats and seafood are now mass produced in the US today, it’s done so in a not-so-natural state. We feed them grains, corn and all sorts of things that they aren’t supposed to eat. Our cattle graze in limited or specific areas. We’ve confined them into farms. The same goes for our seafood. Our seafood can’t go swim everywhere. We have these fish farms all over the place.

It’s really important that we source good quality animal produce, specially when trying to get pregnant.

Aside from what they’re being fed they’re also being given chemicals, toxins and all sorts of hormones that we don’t need to consume and certainly we hope that they don’t need to consume.

According to a recent research study chicken poultry in the US, was being injected with arsenic purposely and it was approved by the FDA as being okay. We all know that arsenic is a cancer-promoting chemical or substance, so why would that be okay for us to consume and animals consume?

These are the reasons why we have to source out good quality food. We don’t want chemicals, we don’t want extra toxins in there like arsenic, and we don’t want added hormones. We want really good, nutrient-dense meat with less saturated fat and increased good quality fat. That kind of organic meat only comes from cattle that is grass-fed and has been able to roam the pastures.

Here are the right places to get your meats and seafood from:

#1 – Local Farmers Market:

The first place that I like to find organic meat and organic seafood locally, in San Diego, and I’m sure all of you can find those things locally in your own communities and hopefully throughout the world, is the local farmers markets where these farmers from Southern California in San Diego, go out and bring in their produce and their meats.

A local farmer’s market is a place where we can not only find good quality product at reasonable price, but we can also talk to people who actually own the farms, to know about the way they rear and bring up their animals. Thus we can get great sourced food.

#2 – Online Stores:

If you don’t have the luxury of having a farmers market nearby or it’s not convenient for you to visit your farmer’s market then you may want to order your meats and seafood online. I’ll leave a list below to my favorite online shops. I usually get the organic produce for my and my family online. It’s faster and very convenient for us.

  • Wellness Meats: A great place to get your grass-fed beef, free range poultry and wild caught seafood, organic beef liver, organic beef jerky, … US Wellness Meats sells quality grassland meat products – Visit them Online!

All his meals are completely Paleo friendly, gluten free, dairy free, soy free and do not contain any sweeteners. They deliver fresh, nation wide. If you are local in San Diego, check the drop off locations, super convenient! You can get you lunch here!
  • Thrive Market:  Thrive is a membership community that uses the power of direct buying to deliver the world’s best healthy food and natural products to our members at wholesale prices and to sponsor free Thrive memberships for low-income American families. Hi, I’m Dr. Marc Sklar. Welcome back to Fertility TV!

For those of you out there who’re interested in learning a little bit more about how you work with me, I work with couples from all over the world through my online Fertility Program, my virtual one-on-one, and if you’re lucky enough to be in San Diego you can find me in my clinics.

Today, as a reminder, we’re talking about good quality meats and healthy seafood, where to find them and what’s good about them. Let’s get started!

First thing I’d like to talk about is why we need these things, like why do we actually have to go source out special quality meat or poultry and special quality seafood and why can’t we just get regular food from the grocery store?

I’m not sure about everybody else in the entire world. I can’t speak for everybody and I’m sure from country to country this will vary and be a little bit different but here in the US we do have issues with the quality of the food that we get and the quality of the animal products or seafood that we get.

First and foremost let’s think about things logically. If you were on a farm and getting your own food and taking care of your own cattle and maybe if you had your own seafood farm, or going fishing for seafood, you’d look for things to be done in the most natural state.

Our cattle were not intended to be fed grains and corn. Actually in many ways just like we were, in most instances, intended to be fed those foods as well. They were meant to be out on the pasture, grazing, eating grass, eating what they find; not what we’re feeding them; not what we’re giving them.

They also weren’t intended to be held in these confined spaces, small spaces just for mass production of meat. The same is truer for seafood. Our seafood is meant to swim all over the place, find the food that it was meant to eat or be eaten by somebody else and then we were meant to go out and fish and hunt and catch those things and then consume them ourselves.

When you look at the way meats and seafood are now mass produced in the US today, it’s done so in a not-so-natural state. We feed them grains and corn and all sorts of things that they weren’t intended. We have farms for our cattle to graze and they can’t go everywhere. The same goes for our seafood. Our seafood can’t go swim everywhere. We have these fish farms all over the place. It’s really important that we source good quality meat.

Aside from what they’re bring fed they’re also being fed chemicals and toxins, all sorts of hormones that we don’t need to consume and certainly we hope that they don’t need to consume,

There was a recent research study that just came out that showed that chicken poultry in the US was being injected with arsenic, purposely and that it was approved by the FDA as being okay.

We know that arsenic is a cancer promoting chemical or substance. So, why would that be okay for us to consume and animals consume?

These are the reason why we have to source out good quality food. We don’t want chemicals, we don’t want extra toxins in there like arsenic, and we don’t want added hormones. We want really good, nutrient-dense food. So we get food, specifically cattle in this manner that is grass-fed and has been able to roam the pastures, we have less saturated fat and we have increased good quality fat. That’s just among the nutrients in the food let alone we’re not consuming those extra hormones.

The first place that I like to find these things, locally, in San Diego and I’m sure all of you can find those things locally in your own communities and hopefully throughout the world, is the local farmers markets where these farmers from Southern California in San Diego, go out and bring in their produce and their meats into the farmers market and we can find good quality product, we can ask the people who actually own the farms, what they’re doing and then we can get great sourced food.

So that’s the first place, but if you don’t have the luxury of having a farmers market nearby or it’s not convenient for you to visit your farmers market because sometimes I can’t always make it to the farmers market, then I order my meats and my seafood online.

I order them from two places, one is, ‘US Wellness Meats’, there’s a link in this description for that to help you out and that helps me all my good quality grass-fed poultry and meat.

The other one is for my seafood and that’s, ‘VItal Choice’. Vital Choice has great quality seafood, all wild, great sourced, healthy for you. All those things are below. That’s where I get my meats and my seafood when I can’t go to the local farmers market myself.

Hopefully those resources are helpful for you. You can find those links below and hopefully you can start changing your diet and improving the quality of the food that you’re eating as well.
